The Monday Sewing Circle is an online creative space for making, sharing, and being in process together. No rules, no themesβ€”just a space to show up, work on whatever creative thing you’re into (sewing, drawing, painting, whatever), and hang out with some good humans.

In Art Isn’t for Everyone, I wrote about how the art world often feels like it’s designed to keep people outβ€”to make them feel like they don’t belong. But art isn’t something that requires permission or the right social connections or money or extensive knowledge of the subject. It lives in rhythm, in repetition, in the quiet moments before thought within ourselves and with each other. The Monday Sewing Circle is a space where that kind of art and connection can happen.

Artist Talks

This spring and summer, we’re beginning each session with a short artist talk, a few minutes to hear from someone about their creative practice, what they make, and how they feel doing it. These talks are intended to make art feel a little closer, a little more human, like a real conversation around a shared table, not a museum pedestal. They’ll be casual, open glimpses into the creative lives of artists from across the countryβ€” people whose work I admire and respect, and who are generously sharing their process with us.
